![]() | All of the puppies are born in a whelping box in our
| home. |
![]() | Each puppy is handled (by us) from the day it is born
| until it goes to its new home. Socialization is very important in its adjustments to the world around them. |
![]() | When the puppies are just a few days old, their dew
| claws are removed by our veterinarian. |
![]() | The puppies are wormed for the first time at about two
| weeks old. |
![]() | Then, at three weeks old, the puppies are allowed to
| venture out into runs to get familiar with new territory under Mommy's watchful eye. |
![]() | They are usually ready for some puppy food at this
| stage of development. At first they just drink the liquid of a gruel type mixture of ground puppy food and a milk replacement formula or soy formula milk. (Even puppies can be lactose intolerant!) As they get older, the gruel is thickened to a porridge consistency. Then they are given regular dry puppy food. They are eating dry puppy food when they go home to their new families. |
![]() | Each puppy is constantly monitored to make sure it is
| safe and sound. |
![]() | At four weeks old, they are wormed again as a
| precaution. |
![]() | Then the big day comes! At five weeks old, all of the
| puppies load up and go to the veterinarian for their first set of shots, worming, and a general check-up. |
